๐ 9. Product Review Checklist
This checklist is used by Product Owners, Product Designers, and Technical Leads to evaluate new and existing features, ensuring they solve real user problems, respect user experience standards, and remain free of feature creep.
๐ฏ 1. Problem-Solution Fit & Value Assessment
Every feature must deliver clear value to SplitDeeโs target users (students, roommates, travelers).
- Validated User Problem: Does this feature address a documented pain point from our user personas (e.g., reduces debt-collection awkwardness, prevents duplicate slips)?
- No Vanity/Interest Features: Is this built because the user actually needs it, rather than just because the engineering team found the technology interesting?
- Simplest Actionable Solution: Is this the minimum viable version of the feature that solves the problem? Can we simplify the user steps?
- North Star Alignment: Does the feature positively impact our North Star Metric (percentage of bills successfully completed without manual debt collection)?
๐จ 2. UX/UI & Usability Review
Ensure the user interface is intuitive and requires zero learning curve.
- Friction Minimization: Can the user complete the action in 3 taps or less? (e.g., scanning a slip from the main dashboard, generating PromptPay QR code).
- Feedback & States: Are there visual loading indicators during async operations (e.g., slip OCR scanning)?
- Predictable Actions: Does the feature behave consistently with standard iOS/Android UX patterns? No surprising behaviors.
- Bilingual Display: Are all text strings, error messages, and alerts configured for both Thai and English?
๐ค 3. AI & Automation Quality
Ensure AI helpers are supportive, transparent, and do not make assumptions for the user.
- Manual Override: Can the user manually correct any AI-driven decisions (e.g., correcting an OCR slip amount read error)?
- Tone Compliance: Does the AI reminder output follow the userโs chosen tone of voice (Casual, Polite, Humor/Meme)?
- Confidence Reporting: Does the system notify the user if AI verification confidence is low, requesting manual confirmation?
๐ฎ 4. Gamification & Engagement Review
Verify that gamification elements encourage healthy financial relationships without being annoying.
- Mochi Balance: Does Mochiโs HP and Happiness system encourage timely payments without feeling overly punitive to users under financial stress?
- Streak Mechanics: Are streaks (e.g., paying on time) rewarding and easy to track?
- Cosmetic Value: Are unlocked accessories visually rewarding to users and shareable within their groups?
๐ซ 5. Scope Control & Feature Creep Prevention
Keep SplitDee focused on its core competency.
- Not a Bank/Wallet: Does this feature avoid dealing with direct e-wallet storage, payment gateway creation, or banking ledgers? (SplitDee acts as a manager and validator, not a bank).
- No Social Media Creep: Does the group chat focus strictly on expense collaboration and related casual chats, avoiding bloated social network additions (e.g., photo albums, stories)?
- Maintenance Assessment: Will this feature require significant backend or database performance overhead that outweighs its value?
